SWEPA was initiated in March 1993 by the Economic Committee of the Sabah Women’s Advisory Council. It was registered with the Registrar of Societies in May 1994. The first President of SWEPA was Datuk Nancy Ho. SWEPA has since been led by 12 dynamic Presidents Datuk Nancy Ho, Datuk Sue Jayasuriya, Sue Yong, Fatimah Yassin, Doris Lim, Dolly Jimayol, Datuk Adeline Leong, Hanaa Abdullah Wong, Datin Jeanette Tambakau, Datin Albina Ogor, Wynnie Jong and the current president, Datuk Aminah Ambrose.

SWEPA has won many awards throughout the years for the activities it has organised, the projects it has embarked on and the outstanding leadership of its leaders. It is time for us to celebrate its “Epitome of Success” this year, which is the theme of the 25th Anniversary Dinner.
