Gining & Rusni having graduated as “Solar Engineers” at world renown Barefoot College, Tilonia, India arrived at Kota Kinabalu Airport on Malaysia Day – 16th Sepember, 2016. A successful homecoming party for Gining & Rusni was held at Palace Hotel on 17th September, 2016. Guest of Honour was Kota Marudu District Officer Mr Arnold Joibi. SWEPA members, partners and media were present and a surprise turn up of the spouses of Gining and Rusni – Jukimin Umbu and Mudin Bin Masunlu. They were unexpected thrown into the limelight with their first public interview by PACOS’ representative and SWEPA’s representative Maria Rowan. Our illiterate grandmothers were shy at first but with a little prompting, they were able to share their never-dreamt-before experiences of their six-month stint in India. Congratulations to our courageous indigenous Borneo women of courage!
Sabah Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Association (SWEPA) is a Non-Governmental Organisation where formation was spearheaded by the Economic Committee of the Sabah Women’s Advisory Council in March 1993. It was registered with the Registrar of Societies in May 1994.
